well i was thinking of a different way to produce this effect. Can you turn the thruster regen to 0 on the ship? Then have it with a standard speed of 199 which is the thrust for all other vessels. Then when it uses it's thruster is is boosted even higher to intercept the enemy. However when the thrust is gone it is gone.
The point of the interceptor is not a turning dogfight so the turn rate would be in fact rather low on the ship. What i inivision here is these ships operating in a pack with fightercraft. They would stop the smuggler or whatever it is, while the Fighters would issue the orders.
So for stats.
Light Bomber turn rate
2500-3000 armour
2 class 8 guns
CD mount
Maximum flight speed without thruster 199
Maximum flight speed with thruster 290
No thruster regen or very slow like 2 min
Has enough thruster power for say 2 minutes of thrust.
I would say personally this would be a rather balanced specialised class but i am not a balance expert. It's sole role is to go fast in a straight line. It is not designed for dog fights in any way and would rapidly lose if it went into a turning dogfight.
