Anya ran her forefinger across her unadorned nail as the transport halted abruptly. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply in an attempt to relieve anxiety, though it didn't seem to help much.

Looking around the ship, Anya saw only stone-faced men and women in Rheinland Military uniforms, not quite aware of what was to pass after they reached the secret shipyards. Anya couldn't look into their eyes. They all seemed so ignorant, so innocent, compared to her. Anxiety might grace the edges of their eyes, but, not as heavily as if they knew.

The transport lurched to a stop a second time, though somewhat leisurely this time. The intercom informed Anya and the other passengers to ready themselves to exit. Almost as if she wanted to rebel against her choice, Anya gripped the armrest to her right, closing her eyes and, for her own sake, wishing she hadn't a conscience.
