From: Chairman Ender of Highland Security
To: Council of Zoners
Gentlemen, I feel as if our actions and intents have been misrepresented by these Outcasts. There was a time when Highland Security used the No Fire Zone to escape from the superior numbers of the Outcast fleet during our slave/smuggling interdiction operations. We halted this practice when two things became apparent; using the No Fire Zone was not in the spirit of the laws set down by the Council of Zoners, and the Outcasts would not respect these laws anyway. We have no urge to endanger the station. Now, our biggest use of the Freeport comes in freeing the slaves seized in Tau-37 on the station (and of course, if the honorable Councilman should decide that this is unacceptable, the practice will stop) and occasionally landing to refuel or celebrate in the bar. We do not base operations out of the Freeport. It is no secret that we base operations out of Tau-23.
It appears to me that our operations are merely becomming more successful, and the Outcasts are trying alternate methods to attempt to stop us. I'll say it again; we will not endanger the Freeport. We have friends on the Freeport. I like the drinks on the Freeport. We even lost three good ships the other day, when during a patrol from Tau-23 into Tau-37 we were ambushed within the No Fire Zone. Outcast ships surrounded us, and when they threatened to fire, we intentionally moved out into open space, knowing full well we were outnumbered and outgunned, to spare the Freeport any trouble.
Perhaps if there is still an issue, or some damages that need to be settled, we ought to sit down and figure out exactly what can be done. I'm always open to a face-to-face meeting.
