Sounds like you're going for the big bucks, rather than the safe bucks.

For my routes - I get two round trips in just over an hour. Now - what size of SHIP are you flying, too? 15 million is really good in an Armored Transport. :)

Leg 1 of my trip - 6.5 million in profit (15 minutes)

Leg 2: 275,000 (hey, it's only 2 mnutes)

Leg 3: 5.5 million in profit (15 minutes)

Leg 4: 458,000 (3 minutes)

Note that these cargo profits are based on 4,171 cargo, since I'm NOT flying a train,and I do have crew and other RP items onboard - and I add about 5 minutes per round trip due to npc lane disruptions - which are considered income opportunities, for the bots/bats that they carry. Hey, an extra 30 of those is an additional 6K in free income, while you're waiting for the lane to come back up.

So - I'm staying totally in characer with what my ship is supposed to be hauling - I make 20 million an hour - and unless something is drastically wrong, I may end up paying 500K or 1 million per hour to a pirate, but most of the time I don't end up paying anything - because I pay attention to what's going on in front of me and either re-route or just dock if I see a bunch of pirates in the sector ahead of me.
