Exactly what I was thinking, now that i see the two next to each other. The RH bomber presents a bigger target from above, below and head-on. The Kusari is a bigger target from the side-due to the length of its pontoons. I didn't realise how skinny you made it at first.
The differences in size between the RH and the Kusari concept are subtle, which means the difference in armor and manueverability should also be subtle. If you aren't looking for a subtle difference between the two, but something more obvious, I would reduce the length of the pontoons (maybe not 50%, but perhaps 25%,) which would make it more of a light bomber compared to the heavy RH one.
I also noticed the BHG bomber is going to be a lighter bomber, which means it would be a good idea to think ahead to the other bombers that might or might not be made for Discovery.
I would assume the indroduction of house bombers to Discovery should mimick the balance arc that the other fighters follow. I don't know enough about the balance spread of the VHFs to accurately guage this but the Reinlanders and Corsairs obviously go for firepower/armor over agility. It seems to me that the Outcasts/borderworld pirates and BHG have a roughly equal balance in their fighters (lighter, faster.) and that Liberty/bretonia are somewhere in between the two. Some delving in Datastorm might show a more detailed balance flow between the factions that could be mimicked in the bombers.
