I have to say that, in all my encounters with Phantoms, I've never been killed.
Which actually surprised me, because I was one of those who was under the impression that you were a bunch of elite PvP whores... but then, I figured out that you guys love RP when I RPed back after my second encounater. I had a short but interesting encounter once, which left me scuttling away from Zelot with my life and my cargo. I RPed back, because that's the only thing Disco has for me and that's what I love doing - I can't PvP to save my life. And so, I RPed instead of running like an OoRP powetrader... and what do you know? - I survived.
On another note:
Your seemingly senseless killing actually isn't a bad idea. As much as people hate it, it's part of your RP to an extent.
You're supposed to be scary, ruthless, evil. You're supposed to have a reputation of terror that precedes you. And how else would you get this reputation than killing lots of people? Mon'star makes people shiver, and so do the Phantoms. People run. And why is this? Because people know they're probably going to get killed, they know you're violent. And if you stop killing people... where does your reputation go?
So, if I ever did get killed by a Phantom, I wouldn't really mind it.
Unless I had a transport full of nuclear devices. (Haha.)
But I actually look forward to meeting Phantoms, because it's a thrill... like gambling with death. Ah, yes... there's good RP... and it's scary... and maybe I'll survive. Maybe I won't. That's all part of the fun.
