No, it has a Supernova. where exactly is the logic in your comment, again? How can we compare a 10k damage razor to a 60k damage snac?


On topic... I would like to see GB turrets (not razors/infernos/missiles, just the normal turrets) bumped up to 1000m range at least. As it is, I can sit at 200m from a zoner juggernaut in my order gunboat, and my turrets still wont hit it. That could be due to the ship's size, but seriously... my turrets have shorter range than most fighter guns, how does that make any sense at all when I'm larger and slower than a bomber?

I refuse...to see gunboats of the "I pwn All" category. ....

But it's ok for bombers to be in that category, amirite?

Good thing almost every Gunboat pilot is a complete noob then. Only time I've died to a Gunboat since 4.85 was released was one that was weapon modding. Something must be wrong if a Gunboat can only win in 1v1 or in vastly greater numbers. Hell, me and one of my Vigilante wingmates came back from a training session in Conn without repurchasing ammunition or regens, we were attacked by an Outcast Gunship on the way back to base. We beat the crap out of it without needing to use a single regen.

Noob factor aside, I think this is all the reason we need to buff gunboats -slightly-. I'm not saying they need to be the king ships of the mod again, but they're definitely lacking.

I mean, I used to fly gunboats all the time during 4.84, aside from my zoner dessie the only shipclass I flew was gunboats. Still, I purchased an order gunboat a couple days ago, and in the first engagement I took it into, I was thoroughly violated by bombers in under 20 seconds. Something is wrong when the class of ship that is -designed- to go up against fighters and bombers cannot do that job effectively, especially in fleet engagements. Gunboats are not useful at all against other capships, they're strength is supposed to be agaisnt smaller craft... so why do they suck so much in that role?

It's just like the issue with fighters vs bombers in fleet engagements. If fighters are designed to escort caps and take out enemy bombers, why are they incapable of doing that job effectively?

Since 4.84, it seems like:

-Fighters have lost all ability to perform escort duties for caps against bombers
-Gunboats have lost all of their versatility, and were given a new role that they absolutely suck at because a few people missileboated in 4.84
-Cruisers have become probably the most useless ship class in the mod, only able to take out smaller cruisers and gunboats - useless against everything else.

Right now, if you dont fly a battlecruiser, battleship, or bomber, you might as well not even play the game.

Range was purposely reduced to limit anti cap effectiveness of gunboats. No longer can you set at 1.4k and fight cruisers with an all-round turret loadout while strafing their turret fire. You have to get close with gunboat turrets. Razors and pulses are obviously an exception to this.

giving the standard gb turrets a buff up to 1000m range would not overpower them against caps. Light gunships aside, I can hit most gb's at that range with mortars.
