Err... Just one little thing, Rheinland did not only prepare to attack Kusari, they crushed them and defeated the KNF outside of planet New Tokyo, threatening to bombard the surface with orbital bombardment from about 40 battleships (if memory serves), I'd say that would have messed up quite a few daily life's.
EDIT: For a specific time reference, Von Claussen tells Trent of Kusaris defeat when you are docking at Toledo for the first time, that was also when Rheinland begun their attack on Bretonia.

The only thing regarding that I can recall from SP is that you once get to see that huge cap fleet while you are in Rheinland and some dialogue that Kusari's defense got crushed; I don't think they made it to New Tokyo though. But it has been a long time since I've last played SP - so feel free to point me out the exact scenes and I'll look them up (and, if necessary, change the faction description, even if it's just a minor detail).
