Order Super Battleship Design Contest //-stationary base as a ship

I kinda remember someone mentioning that the Order was resource poor.... then I thought about the huge asteroid field that the main Order base is in....

Here is a 'what if' scenario.

The Order, realising it needs a large 'mobile' base and is short on resources, sends personel out into the asteroid field to look for wreckage that can be recycled. During this process, a very large asteroid is found....

You can sort of guess where I'm going here. Takagi had a 'home' built into an asteroid and there are many bases built inside asteroids.

Why not 'construct' a ship, using an asteroid as an integral part of it.

This would 'reduce' the resources used and may even provide some resources for the construction.

As for why it doesn't move, you could say that the engineers underestimated the stresses on the asteroidal rock, which cracked under testing and damaged irreplacable components (read as nomad stuff).

It could be 'built' using, you guessed it, mining tools! Note that the asteroids in that particular area are kind of flattish and not round, with a rough dark texture....

It would be unique and definately different from any other ship/station in Disco, I mean it' would be the only ship with a 'rock' texture :laugh:

Just an idea from my ever so slightly twisted mind....
