INCOMMING TRANSMISSION:
DESTINATION: All DoD Offices
COMM ID: -UNKNOWN-
ENCRYPTION: -NA-

I am not impressed, gentlemen. Your little game is running out, and now you seek to bring down as many as you can with you.

I will not stand for this. The world cannot stand for this. And because it cannot, must not, and will not be stood for, I deliver this ultimatum to you;

Release Tannik Seldon from the Denver Asylum, declare him sane, and publicly announce his return to active duty at his current rank, or there will be dire consequences. Do not make a mistake you won't live to regret.

You have 12 hours.

With all due respect,
Mr.Mortifera

MESSAGE ENDS:

-----------------------------------

On planet Denver, if one were to but look up at the night sky you would see the vast blackness of space. Stars twinkled down from above, making the world seem blanketed in a black velvet cloth, pinpricked to let tiny dots of light to shine through. But the skys held unknown dangers for the people of Denver. Hidden from both human and mechanical eyes, the Oblivion brooded.

Deep within its hardened shell, lurked a malevolent presence. Crystal Oni, the insane AI that ran much of the Oblivion and lead the Phantoms hacker teams, was watching. Using relays bounced all over the Colorado system, the AI watched the Asylum. The entrance, the wards, the offices, everything was watched in equal measures. Where the security had placed eyes, Crystal Oni could see. The machine could hack the most advanced security systems known to man within seconds, so the bare-bones defenses of the Asylum were no threat to the massive computer.

And what Crystal Oni was watching for, ah now there was a good question. The AI watched for any hint of weapons that entered the building. Any official notice sent to the Asylum had to pass CO first, and if necessary it could make the message seem like it arrived, but never did. All of this was in preparation for the DoD to make that one horrific mistake that panicking men are so prompt to do, and that is shoot their problems. If anything looks like it had a good chance of harming Seldon, there was a whole squad of Phantom Soldiers ready to strike. A covert assault shuttle had ferried them down to the surface naught but 15 minutes ago, and they were ready to assault the Asylum at any time.

Such was how the Phantoms operated; Where strikes like these would take days to set up for most people, the Phantoms excelled at speed, stealth, and overwhelming firepower. So now they played the waiting game. One way or another, the DoD would make its answer known within the next 12 hours.

This is the real true story of rock and roll; it was not about anything more then, how to live your life, as a gangster, in sartorial splendor, and turning the world into a place where normality would never return again...- Malcolm McLaren
