I don't really, however there are many archetypes that can come from other places.
Of course I infuse my own personalities into the characters I play as well. So, yes and no.
However, I refuse to play something like Klingons in this universe. That offends my ordered nature of sci-fi sense. I prefer keeping my universes separate (and ordered).
Other people like mish-mash and I try to ... go along with it as best I can, but sometimes I just don't see the sense.
