It's a logical step for the IMG to progress towards a para military wing, the recent changes to the mining community in general has placed a far greater need for such.
Miners are at far greater risk now than at any time in Freelancer / Discovery history, until such time as mining becomes more viable, miners themselves need to travel / explore other systems, whether this is intentional by the mod dev team is not for me to say as I'm simply a player.
The Zoner movement itself is undergoing radical changes, the ZAS movement, whilst I still support it, has not really given me, as an individual, to experience the RP I thought it would, and as ZAS is Zoner related, I can see no reason why it too should not be affected by the Zoner issues as a whole.
It's already been stated quite clearly the intentions of owning the Cap ships, so on that issue I've no more to add.
All the time I've been a forum member I've seen groups spring up from nowhere, breakaway groups that no one seems to know anything about.
The IAF wasn't some bright idea, it was discussed at great length, and various faction leaders were contacted for their input / feedback.
The role of the IAF is simple;
1/ To take some of the pressure off the ZAS allowing it to re organise itself.
2/ To take up the fight against Slavery.
3/ The logical step to protecting bases, miners and their belongings in the current environment.
4/ To give those players whose history lies in the mining community added support through RP that is basically an integral component of Freelancer itself, and likewise Discovery.
We aren't a bunch of fanatics looking for a fight, nor are we immature in our way of thinking, we simply want to extend an RP that so far has not been filled as it was intended.
We all start off as newbies, the only way to progress to higher levels is through mining, therefore, the IAF is the most logical and practical advancement on that.
Hopefully you'll now understand our point of view.
