Although the time limit is kinda too much, Say 24 hours for a fighter, 30 for a bomber, 72 for a gunship, 5 days for a cruiser/dessie class, 7 days for battleship class, 10 days for Dreads & something appropriate for trade ships using the various sizes with different times to allow it to be repaired or rebuilt.

Would in my opinion SERIOUSLY slow down the LOLWUTTING Capwhoring

Could also change the 2 hour rule using the method Cannon suggested by stating you may not engage in any area you was killed in for 30 minutes with any character. This could help factions & groups defend their home turf with alternate ships. & not really a chance for abuse seeing they lose that ship as well, that's 2 ships they wont use for what ever period of time & etc.
