This being the discussion thread, we can discuss it here. But I did mention this already in Skype.
Simply put, there are less and less people turning up at this event, because it is becoming repetitive and boring. The original idea was that we'd arrange a event that would allow mixed fleet battles. However, every week, the same complaint has arisen on all sides - bombers have too much influence on the outcomes of these events; whoever brings the most generally wins. Even with a limit of four, some players may still want to try out the other ships they have. To be honest, most people have destroyers lying around...but why bother? They last less than two minutes at these things.
On top of that, there's more and more people complaining that the event is simply no fun any more - we spend ages waiting to log on for a fight that takes half an hour to organise, only to end up dying in the first two minutes.
The change is a experiment, to shake things up and try something different. We know that bombers can play a big role in these - it's time to see if we can find some role for the vhfs/gunboats/gunships. It simply takes too long to destroy bombers, so flying a VHF has become kind of uninviting.
As well as that, I think it's fair to insist on equal numbers for the Sunday event. We have enough overlap in players to ensure there's even numbers, and there's no harm in switching up characters to make the fight even and avoiding surprises. That way it becomes more about skill than numbers.
Bringing one battleship means each side will have to decide on an anti-fighter or anti-cap ship. Each one will have real advantages and disadvantages depending on what the other brings.
