What I have Noticed, is that the REALLY big battleships, such as the Rheinland BS, will almost always dock with the lane. Why? I would guess because the fornt is so large the hitbox+dock point idea detects the ship is there and lets it in. But yea, Do as dab said if you are having trouble. Form with the NPC's and you will automatically dock up with the lane when they do.
