I like this idea, it makes retrieving information already available in the client simpler.

Unless you enjoy having your money taken away from you whilst you trade, you are constantly opening and closing the 'Y' window to check your system and the systems ahead of you on your route for known/potential hostiles. Assuming you could bind these to your /msg keys - which you'd have to do each time you changed your route as it would need a full system name to work - you'd have to memorize which /msg number corresponds to which system and/or type the message out manuallyand then check through the names returned - only marginally quicker that bringing up y, sorting by system and scanning down the list but without the annoyance of the list moving when people log in or out of the server.

It really wouldn't harm piracy at all...
