Ishikawa Hideaki

Life has always been remarkably easy for Hideaki.
The only son of his proud father Toru Ishikawa, he never had to worry about anything.
Being involved in the optronics business on Honshu the Ishikawa family would be considered quite wealthy by the average Kusarian.
Wealthy enough to have a country house on the shores of Honshu's vast ocean at least.

He would spend his childhood in solitude for the most part, being taught at home and rarely finding an excuse to visit the city.
If he wasn't studying, or sitting in his father's study to watch him talk to important business partners, one would find him in the yard.
Lying in the short grass he would spend hours looking at the sky and watching the passing spaceships in the distance with awe until his mother would come at nightfall and take him back inside again.

The house Ishikawa always took great pride in honoring the traditions of Kusari and so Hideaki too was raised in that spirit.
Between weekly Kendo lessons he was expected to educate himself by studying the various works collected in his father's library.
He would take great interest in these subjects and was an eager student.
Surprisingly though, he had trouble when it came to learning about traditional kusarian religion and would find it hard to accept these teachings.
As an obedient son however, he would not want to disappoint his father and kept quiet about his concerns, showing the same determination as in his other subjects.

At the age of eleven Hideaki would go into space for the first time in his life.
His father had business to do on New Tokyo and decided to bring his son along, for he knew he couldn't keep Hideaki isolated forever.
And it was time for him to see something from the universe, to prepare him for the role he was supposed to take on when his father retires.

"Outosan, can we go to the cockpit?"

The child was nearly pressing his face against the small window to get a better view of the space outside.

"Iie. You should know better than to ask such a question. The pilot surely doesn't need a nosy child in his cockpit."

The little boy turned his head and looked at his father, who was reading through some business documents, wearing the same serious expression on his face as always.
It was one of the few things little Hideaki thought to be unchangable.

"Hai, outosan."

He turned his head back to the window again and spent the whole trip gazing at the stars, deciding that he would spend his future among them.
