To: MND Direktorat/Rheinland Military High Command From: Senior Agent Ansgar Freyberg, Marinenachrichtendienst Subject: Operation Freiheit
Kommandant,
Yesterday at 1939 Zulu time, we have been informed about the destruction of a passanger transport vessel, which was shot down in Stuttgart by a medium-sized Red Hessian attack group. The ship, which had several members of the Bretonian social elite on board bound for Augsburg, jettisoned escape pods, on which the passangers have fled the exploding vessel. The majority of these pods have been captured by the Hessian terror squad, in whose hands their fate is either being used as a hostage or instant execution.
I was sent in to do a force recon of the area, getting intel on the size of the opposing force and their destination, preferably also neutralising whatever ships they had left behind. On my way to Stuttgart, I stumbled upon Hauptfeldwebel Gunter Weissman and Gefreiter Tanja Fessel, who were acting under similar orders.
We spotted the Hessian vessels, each registered to a recently emerged gathering of disorganised militiants, the Rot Front. Their lack of organisation was resembled by two facts: One being is that they maintained their position after committing their acts of piracy, the other being that both transport vessels with the civilian captives were still in the area, one of them was even unshielded. I managed to get a reading on the two PT-class transports, the [RF]Enteigner and the [RF]Verteiler, but the vessels immediately ran for it as they saw us approaching, using a vector that later turned out to be leading to a hidden terrorist base.
At that point, we couldn't pursue, as there were also two gunboats, the [RF]Furcht and the [RF]Bronevik, aswell as a bomber, piloted by Leo Trozky, who covered their escape. We however, did receive confirmation of the hostages and their vector of heading, which was later confirmed even further. The terrorist vessels left in the area, decided to prevent us from intercepting those transports by attacking us, which we retaliated successfully, forcing the hostiles to flee aswell.
The hostiles, under our fire, fled into a nearby nebula. We almost shot down the [RF]Bronevik, when suddenly a base appeared right in front of us. As an addition to that, three more Heimdall-class Hessian gunships unmoored, increasing the number of the opposing force to 5 Heimdall gunships and a Thor bomber, against two military fighters, me as an MND agent and a Bounty Hunter, who was in the nebula hunting for the Hessian bounties.
The ridiculously oversized enemy force however, started to crumble rapidly. We took out Troczky's Thor bomber, then went to shoot down the Heimdalls, beginning with [RF]Kornelius. An arriving reserve bomber, Ludwig Wolfram totally placed the odds in our favour. We destroyed the [RF]Kornelius, followed by the [RF]Furcht. Downing two Heimdalls in a minute made them pull out half of their forces, the [RF]Derzky and the [RF]Bronevik escaped the impending doom, leaving the last of their gunship, the [RF]Njord to be ripped apart by our side.
We downed 3/5 Heimdalls and a bomber, disabling the biggest part of the terrorist base defence. We didn't have the necessary firepower to assault the newly discovered installation, although our vessels were hardly hit at all. The captured VIPs are still held on the station, but a hit and run boarding operation could easily seize them again.
