The Buccaneers Bay

[Capt. Henry Morgan]

Captain Morgan strolled into the Bay. He walked over to the bar, and grabbed the bottle of Gundey VIII from behind the bar. That was a good sign, since the Captain only drank it when he was in a good mood, and wanting to show off a little. Considering the beverages indescribably foul smell, everyone got as far away from the Captain as they could. It was rumored that you could dissolve a large diamond in a glass of the stuff. Nobody besides the Captain and Morris could stomach the stuff, but that was enough for Charles to keep a bottle or two around. That, and it's remarkable ability to instantly revive anyone from even the deepest drunken sleep occasionally came in handy.

One of the other Buccaneers, one of the Bridge crew, spoke up.

"Good haul today, Cap'n?"

"Not bad. Not the biggest we've ever brought in, but not bad. I managed to get a million credits off of an OSI transport in Dublin. The best part of it was that I managed to do it right under the noses of his two escorts without even havin' to fight for it. Good thing, too. I'd have scrapped the transport had they tried, and then none of us would've gotten paid."

"Good show, Cap'n!"

"Oh, I'm not done. After that, I came back to Leeds, meanin' to head to Manchester for a bit. Extortin' credits from cross-border trade with Liberty isn't as lucrative as hittin' blockade runners, but it's worth a tidy sum just the same. I was almost to the Manchester hole when I get an SRF train on my scanners. Naturaly, I moved to intercept. He noticed me, and started to move away, but I managed to get just barely in disruptor range, and let one fly. I got lucky, and it hit the mark. Not being an idiot, he knew the game was up, and cut his engines. After scannin' his hold, I saw that he wasn't carrying normal trade goods. When I asked him for credits, he told me that, as a hospital ship, he didn't have any. Considerin' he was one o' those humanitarian sorts, I actually believed him. They never carry nearly enough credits. Not wantin' to kill them over nothin', I had him transfer me a few crates of Consumer Goods. It was mostly medical supplies, but that's fine. Sawbones has been complainin' about needin' more supplies. All in all, not a bad day."

The Captain smiled widely, then said the magic words.

"Round o' drinks on me, lads!"
