I would take the liberty of continuing the report made by Flieger Vogel, starting with a minor correction.
The opposing force actually consisted of three Titan-class Very Heavy fighters, two of them flown by the highest ranking Black Sail officials, Elder Grimly and Buccaneer Karolis and a Gladiator-class Heavy Fighter. The Gladiator-class was our target, which was easy to hit despite its reputation as an agile vessel.
We continued plundering the nanobot supply of Herr Vega, who was in flight of the Gladiator Heavy fighter, with only Weissman left on my wing. The four Hessians who came in our assistance for reasons still unknown to me, refused to take my orders and kept hitting other targets. The Heavy fighter we kept targetting was resupplied by his comrades, we were successful at hitting him to an extent that all of the opposing force was left without repair tools as the four Hessians (who turned out the be three recruits, led by a simple Leutnant) downed one by one.
As Weissman and I were left alone, the Corsairs started concentrating on evasion and tactics in effect to preserve all of their wingmen, another Titan even arrived to restock some of their vessels with fresh supplies. The fight drifted into a nearby nebula, which was another advantage of the enemy force. I ordered a retreat, but Herr Weissman chose to stay and fight, regardless of my orders. Lack of discipline or heroism, not mine to decide.
The Corsairs gave all their supplies to a Titan-class fighter, flown by a pilot simply called "Berny". The majority of the opposing force disengaged, but Karolis attacked Weissman with some other pilot, I believe. Regardless, they sent Berny to challenge me in a skirmish, which I won. I managed to take in successful mine shots, several of them, turning his ship on fire. He was literally falling apart, when the rest of his wing decided to engage me, seeing that their assassin failed his task. He was successful enough at evading my projectiles though, that I couldn't get his ship down. Their engineers will have some trouble reassembling the pieces his Titan was turned into, regardless of the lack of life loss.
Weissman was shot down, but he too, managed to cause damage. I tractored his escape pod. The five enemy vessels, heavily damaged and out of supplies, chose to leave my grounded vessel in the nebula and flee.
The Corsair claim of Nuremberg was so rejected successfully. Our distraction, with a high price, managed to give time for the defence fleet to deploy, we also succeeded in bringing most of the enemy ships close to destruction, rendering an attempted assault literally impossible. The day had a bittersweet ending, even though two of us lost their ships, we managed to save a lot of lives altogether.
