I am honestly perturbed at the number of people who misunderstand this particular rule.

' Wrote:5. General PvP Rules
5.2 All attacks must be the result of some form of role play. "Engaging" is not sufficient. An attack is any hostile action that drains shields to less than 50%. Being hit with a CD is not considered an attack. If a player is attacked he has a right to defend himself regardless of who is attacking.

Nowhere in this rule does it say "Engagement Notice." In fact, it says that engagement notices are by and large insufficient. What is required is "...some form of roleplay.".

At no point and time does anyone have to say "Engaging" or "Engaging hostile" or "Weapons hot" or any derivative thereof. The only reason this rule was enacted was to make sure that the other side was at the computer and aware of the threat around them. This is not an interpretation, I was there when the rule was enacted. If Roleplay has occurred, the person is obviously there and aware that there is someone red on their scanners.

To make the rule completely clear to everyone:

AN ENGAGEMENT NOTICE IS NOT REQUIRED. "...SOME FORM OF ROLEPLAY." IS REQUIRED. NO ONE EVER HAS TO BLATANTLY TELL ANYONE ELSE THAT HE IS GOING TO SHOOT.

Understand? Versteht?

That is all.
