... Hello? Aha. Finally. This technology aint worth the credits I paid fer it.

A lots happened in the past few weeks an’ I spose this is my way of getting it all down. I mean I still av’ to contact me brother but last I heard he was out in the rim worlds doing escort work in is Eagle. Mercenery. Ha. Just because him and Da had that argument. Doesn’t really matter now though.

I suppose I better start at the beginning; that is where a personal log is meant to start aint it?

Right.

Well, I was born on Ibiza base, tho me birth certificate says the planet Malta, Apparently I couldn’t wait to get to the med facilities and Ma had me in one of Ibizas docking bays. Said it were a sign I would be trouble from the moment I were born.

Anyhow, me Ma, she was an Outcast escort pilot. She protected the trade convoys and such. How she an me Da met. Da is a Rogue Trader, you know, he keeps a legal ship and a clean record and buys in stuff from legal bases and traders.

Despite what the Navy seem to think we can’t survive on cardamine and wine. Dad had pretty good ties to Cryer and Synthfoods. We kept the bases supplied. Sure it wasn’t the usual pirate stereotype but somebody had to do it.

Anyhow, that be how Ma and Da ended up meeting, her Outcast Convoy helped Da when he was jumped by Xenos on a supply run. Da ended up chasing her round the next base to say thanks since her ship took quite a bit of damage getting him out of trouble.

The rest as they say is history. They had me older brother Caleb (call him Kal) and then they had me. Ma was killed when I was nine, trading convoy managed to call Navy backup and her engines were damaged, she wasn’t able to run.

Well, me an Kal had been living on Malta till then, but Da took us out on his freighter. Looking back that probably wasn’t the best idea, Da an’ Kal always were too alike to coexist together in a small freighter. Kal got out as soon as he could. Last I heard he was working as a Merc out in the rim, but he aint exactly reliable with his comm. calls.

Me, I stayed with me Da, knew all the locations of asteroid fields and hidden bases by the time I was fourteen. Although that aint on the official Liberty schooling syllabus for kids.

Well, cut a short story even shorter, three months ago me Da was caught. LSF finally managed to pin him down. He was picked up as soon as he landed and shipped out to one of the prisons and is ship impounded.

Only pure luck that I wasn’t with him or I’d be in one of there juvenile correctional facilities by now, to be taught how to have a law abiding life.

Anyway, I cleared out Da’s hidden Rogue account; LSF had already locked down his false trading account, and managed to buy me a freighter, I suppose I could have got a fighter or a bomber, several of me Da’s friends told me to do that, but I know how to handle a freighter. I’d probably shoot myself in a bomber, me an’ missiles just don’t get along too well.

I spent a month or so hauling cardi, had to get the credits in somehow. I mean this boat was second hand and bits seem to fall off everytime I move. I’ve just left Cassini where I were using me profits to get her overhauled so that systems, like my thrusters, didn’t keep dying at inopportune moments and am now out and about again.

Not that anybody will see much of a difference in how she handles, except Rogues and a few Outcasts who were Ma’s friends. I’m not suicidal enough to try and cross policed systems unless it’s absolutely necessary, I always travel round the edges. The feeling of Navy ships closing in on you is pretty scary.

Anyway, I think that’s the sob story over, now I just have to work out how to encode this so it gets sent to Kal if I die...

*beep beep... beep*

Talk about a bad day. Ended up having to pay a group of Corsairs just to get past, but given that the alternative to paying was me being a big BOOM I suppose it wasn’t that bad.

But to make me feel even worse, I then got lost.

Yup, you read that right.

Lost.

In a gas cloud.

An exploding gas cloud.

I was not amused. Neither was the GMG ship that happened upon me.

Thankfully he was in a good mood, he directed me towards the Jump Hole I had been searching for and even accepted I had no cash for his fine. Truth indeed due to those Corsairs taking the last liquid cash I had.

If I ever meet GMG Mang Takushi again I will not demand credits.

But only the first time of course, I am a pirate. I’m only indebted to him once.

Well, that’s it for today, no profit and no cargo, but I’m still in one piece and nothing has fallen off me ship that I can’t weld back on.
