Not going to talk to the poorly understood space fish is a personal thing, Jammi. There's plenty of people who'd grow curious and try to communicate. I know I would. Sure, I'd be ready to crap my pants, but I'd still be curious enough to probe it for information.

Touche. Although your first paragraph relates to my point on 'the weirdos that live on the fringes of civilisation'. Generally people that are entrenched in the Houses have had decades of social conditioning beaten into them, making them less curious. But again, you're totally right, it is down to the character.

Also, sorry for the ninja-edits. I'm one of those types of people who will read their own posts and see important bits are missing and add them.

Well, I doubt the Humans will just pack up their camp and move on, no? So yeah. DEY BE FIAHRIN DER LAZ0RS will happen probably. Though, their desire is not to kill Humans, it's to reclaim their home. Getting rid of those pesky insects is just a way to accomplishing that.

To normal people who don't know anything about Nomads, killing to reclaim home = killing because they're genocidal aliens who want to exterminate humanity. That's probably the angle the media will pump out too, which would have a large effect just because of the whole "OMG IT IN THE NEWS! IT TRUE!" mindset.
