My suggestion is that instead of being dumped back in a Starflea (which really doesn't make much sense), why not respawn as your current ship, but on 1 hull hitpoint, components removed and weapons also on 1 hitpoint. This would mean there's an advantage for fleeing seeing as it's more or less impossible to get that sort of damage from a real combat experience, while dying will get you a truly massive repair bill.

I'd also suggest players auto-dropping credit cards of varying value to act as the incentive someone mentioned earlier. This would have to be done carefully though, tailored on a ship-by-ship basis. So a bomber would drop a higher amount than a VHF. You'd have to be careful that the amount dropped is smaller than the victims repair bill though. This would stop abuse, where friends purposefully kill each other, seeing as one would eventually run out of cash and have to work his way back up from a Flea to his VHF.

This sort of stuff would be interesting to see on another server, but wouldn't really work here. Try it out, says I!
