Interesting reading. Forgive my absence. Factions go into periods of inactivity, but our base is solid. I think faction overlap in membership is partly to blame. The Order needs the BHG to exist as a faction more than the BHG needs the Order - we always have the freedom to return to the Houses; the Order could find itself sitting in Toledo orbit with nothing to do if we withdraw players from the Omicrons. The event was in the process of being re-shaped when real life called. That will need attention - there is no good reason for a BHG turnout that is low considering there are plenty of people in both factions. But we can always drop the event and make another one which might be easier to run.
A few things in the pipeline to give hope to our committed members - a bit more of an incentive to play and a few long overdue bumps to positions of responsibility. If needs be, we can return to being a small faction and focus on a few committed members. But the perennial problem remains - what is the point of being a member of any official faction? There are no real advantages but I'm sure we can make some. I'm working on a few things. Memerbship has been open and should stay that way because it does draw the occasional good player. Bear in mind this is a hobby, not a commitment to a life of penal servitude.
As to the general anti-hunter mentality on the forums. Well, this is classic squeaky wheel Discovery balance - some idiot tries to change the rules of the game because of a perceived unfairness or bad experience when in all likelihood a role played response would be more appropriate. These whingers always get what they deserve - a more boring and lacklustre gaming experience; a "safer" spaceship game than one where real consequences arise from choices you make.
More on this later; Dash get back in the chat. We have a lot of things to sort out.
