On a positive note, some official factions do not ask for control over the Independants. BAF are a good example of this roleplaying themselves as lower rank than my HMS-Nimrod Destroyer Character, yet in return I dont go ordering them around. We more cohabitate so despite technically I would be their superior, I know I'm an independant and thus wouldn't want to interefere with official BAF plans and motives. This way we all get to play alongside each other and have fun:)
