Exactly, pilots would be basic, and then food water, etc... not sure about that.

Yes it would be nice to have a few more equipment and supply options

Equipment slots for
engines with different values for

• top speed
  
• acceleration
  
• fuel type
  
• fuel consumption
  

crew

• co-pilot -> better ship-turn speed
  
• engineer -> higher top-speed or shield recharge rate
  
• scientist -> increased scanner range
  
• gunner -> increased damage output
  
• electronic warfare officer -> increased CM-efficiency or decreased enemy scanner range
  

enhancements

• shield capacitor -> increased shield recharge rate
  
• auxiliary power core -> increased power output and recharge
  
• fuel tank -> increased fuel capacity but decrease cargo hold
  
• cargo container -> increased cargo hold
  

Secondary cargo hold for supplies which are consumed while traveling

• fuel -> consumed amount depends on chosen engine
  
• food, oxygen, water -> consumed amount depends on size of the crew
  

but i guess that is far beyond what a mod can do.. :huh:

The things mentioned above would not do so much for rp but would allow the players to adjust the stats of their ships a bit more to fit their needs.
And by giving different supply capacities to the ships things like "for long distance travel" on the infocards would finally make sense and travel ranges could become more realistic:
For examples fighters should be short range vessels that would have to dock with a station to pick up new supplies or get them from their "mother ship" (e.g. capital ship, transport they are escorting)

but well i guess i'm going off topic ...
