Hicharo Suzuki, my freelancer, has had a situation develop around him that could turn into an interesting RP experience for the community.
What I did was trade H-Fuel from Sigma 13, Naha to Manheim Station in Frankfurt. Now, with contract between GMG and Kishiro, only Kishiro can trade H-Fuel to Rheinland, so only Kishiro could do this run. It can be argued that I had a contract with Kishiro over that amount of fuel, but lets leave it up to lawyers. Im being accused of theft here. Trade dispute if you will.
Here are some 'video' material to explain. It will be evidence, so to speak as I was never seen with the cargo itself.
What could happen: an RP event either on forums or in game, your traditional court procedure Why would it be interesting?: usually lawsuits are someone-killed-someone cases, this is an economical crime, hence its more fresh and interesting
How would we do it and why should we listen to you?
As I gave myself away and was spotted in Rheinland the court would be under Rheinland laws. A Kusarian at court in Rheinland. That creates an international incident!
The lawsuit would be filed by Kishiro, as appearantly it's their contract that I may or may have not violated. (could also be GMG, maybe even Rheinland if its considered contraband). Its Kishiro against Kusari citizen with Rheinland rules and play style;)
Kusari would have little choice but to do everything they can to try to pull me out. (in ideal situation a ksp inspector could be the lawyer, although any person or none will do too). I am a citizen after all and Kusari is protective of its people. So, Kusari could try to bend the system, try to deal with Rheinland (who is somewhat forced to have this case go through).
Well my record as patriot is not impressive, all Hachiro has in his record are a few jobs for Ageira Technologies, but Kusari would still put average efforts into 'getting me out', I think.
Samura would pressure Kusari government to help me out to retain its reputation (or farmers alliance as lawful organisation). There is alternative route, though. Samura would launch Hogosha agents, who would still try to get me out of Rheinlands prisons (by political means or bribery), but after they do, deal with me on their own in the very worst manner there is. Maybe make me work for Farmers Alliance, make me their thug. Fun thing is: I would never know if Kusari is trying to get me out of good will or if they're going to slap me even harder after they do! :lol:
That's not all! We could also add another thing to the case. Why didn't border station stop me before I could sell my cargo? Were the guards not watchful enough? Maybe they should be sued?
How far Im willing to go?: Pretty far. I would appreciate if its not a death penalty.:DOther than that...credits fine (I pay corporations), confiscation of ship (would change to civ shuttle) even imprisonment, forces labour (shipped to Miura), ending up in other factions such as previously mentioned AFA, Hogosha, maybe all of these things together. After all, that is usually the case in modern day courts.
Let us not forget that I may become free if the court sees my reason or even have evil corporations pay me compensation (again it should be like 10,000 credits or so, I don't mind if its only on paper too). That is very possible because it is arguable if Hicharo is guilty or innocent. Also, if he is found innocent (lets admit trading H-Fuel is not as bad as killing someone or smuggling) then who is to blame? Maybe Kishiro officer on Naha is corrupt and he sold Hachiro a contract, maybe a Junker set him up, maybe GMG officer illegally allowed Hicharo to access the supplies and tricked him into thinking that it's legitimate and so on. All these roles could be roleplayed as well.
And of course, in case of imprisonment some pirates can attack the prison ship/convoy. That would gain them an ally for sure.
The most important aspect remains...do YOU want to give it a go? Post, give ideas, take up roles, give suggestions.
