An Introduction to Liandria Tharen

Freedom is worth fighting for, but not necessarily worth dying for Liandria whispered under her groggy breath as she rolled out of her bunk. She clambered around the cargo hold of her CTE-6000 Eagle class vessel in search of some water. The small fighter class vessel drifted calmly between the colossal obelisks that dawned down upon it within the thundering purple haze of the Badlands in the New York system.
Quenching her thirst as she drank she noticed movement in the corner of the hold, slowly and carefully she drew her blaster from her hip and rotated. The movement stopped as she stood over her prisoner, a bound young woman, lying on her side and evidently trying to wriggle free of her exo-bracelets that restrained her movement. Going somewhere? Liandria chuckled.
N..No. Stuttered the prisoner, evidently still disorientated from the recent events that had led to her unfortunate predicament of being captured by a pirate. She had long brunette hair, slightly curled towards the ends, much like Liandrias own. Her face was a chiselled, well defined, with a pointed nose and a large bruise on the left of her cranium thanks to Liandrias blaster butt; she shivered as the distant rumble of the Badlands rippled through the ship.
Liandria gave the prisoner, a Liberty Police pilot, a stern jab to the ribs with the heel of her boot before hauling the pilot upright and leaning her against a crate of light assault rifles. Curse you, you dog, the prisoner wheezed whilst she leant her head back against the cold polysteel crate frame as if to look up for some form of divine intervention. Liandria continued to bind the bracelets to the bar running along the frame of the crate in silence, ignoring the comments of her most unwelcome guest. You have nowhere to go, nowhere that the authorities dont patrol, unless you plan to sit in this God-forsaken sector of space for the rest of your life. Face it, with me on board youre going to be hunted down like the dog you are!
Having secured the bracelets so her human cargo couldnt try and cause her any more trouble, Liandria stood up and turned towards the exit hatch to the cockpit. As she walked away the pilot spoke in a mocking tone What you gonna do huh? Try and sell me at one of your decrepit bases. Wholl take me? What other fool would try and smuggle a police pilot around Liberty space?
Liandria carried on up the hatch, Hey! What are you gonna do with me? the prisoner repeated, she continued to ignore her until she heard a desperate scream Answer me! ringing out whilst the hatch sealed off the cockpit from the hold.
Pray to your God, youll need his help. Liandria mumbled to herself as she sat down in the cockpit looking out into the mist that lit up as the dark matter cloud roared, she initiated the cruise drive and plotted co-ordinates for Buffalo Base.

On approach the communications unit flashed, she keyed up a transmission link to the station. A voice grainy and deep, with intermittent static began to speak.
This is Buffalo Base transmitting to incoming vessel Theta 8-3 please state your business
Hello Buffalo this is Liandria Tharen, I have cargo for Carlos Hernaz, and a live one who didnt agree with me bringing it here, requesting permission to dock.
Roger that Miss Tharen, youre clear to proceed, have a good day.
Terminating the communications link Tharen piloted her ship into the docking bay, and let the autopilot finish off the procedure as she hopped out of the pilot seat to see to her cargo.
Whilst returning to where she had left her mouthy pilot she noticed something was awry, the crate she had attached her to had shifted at least half a metre forward into the centre of the hold. Liandria quickly un-holstered her blaster, armed it, and aimed at her captive.
Drop it, open your palms, place them upon the top of your head. She spoke slowly and authoritatively constantly keeping the blaster trained on her new adversarys head.
Drop what? Came the reply Im tied up and stuck to a box, cant you see that you crazy leech, you put me here after all.
Drop it. Liandria emphasised calmly.
No. The pilot replied drawing from behind her back one of the assault rifles from the crate. She stood up, pointing the gun at Liandria, muscles tensed as she carefully stepped over to the cargo door controls.

...Meanwhile...

Carlos Hernaz was a stocky man with a small goatee and a slightly rotund build. He peered out of the access door to Bay 3 to see Tharens ship sitting there, landing lights still on and the cargo door raised shut. Stepping into the bay he noticed that none of the equipment around had been interfered with and assumed that Liandria must be waiting for him aboard her fighter. Casually he waddled over to the control unit next to her ship and keyed in the communications code. An unfamiliar voice opened the comms link. Who are you? What do you want?

...Back aboard Liandria Tharens Eagle...

The Liberty Police Pilot tapped the transmit button with her elbow, whilst carefully keeping her rifle pointed at Liandria. Who are you? What do you want? She demanded.
An intrigued and distinctly Hispanic voice replied Eh? Who am I? Who are you, wheres senorita Tharen?
Liandria grew tired of her nuisance prisoner and with a regretful sigh lowered her blaster to point at the pilots right leg, whilst simultaneously pulling the trigger. The prisoner saw the movement and tried to fire off two rounds but nothing happened, until, in an instant, a searing hot flash of a laser bolt hit her leg sending her plummeting to the ground.
It would seem you believe it is worth dying for and I feel insulted that you think I would leave live cartridges in those rifles. Liandria said whilst staring down the sight of her blaster at the writhing woman on the floor of her cargo hold. Overcome by the agony of the blaster wound the pilot whimpered.
Senorita Tharen? Miss what is going on in there? Carlos voice spluttered over the ships communications system. Liandria stepped over the prisoner who was still shaking and crying on the floor in order to reach the communications panel.
Be with you in a minute Carlos, just dealing with a small vermin problem. Liandria keyed off the communications link, looked down, placed her blaster nozzle on the Liberty Pilots forehead and smiled.
