Get Audacity. It can generally do a good job of it. If you can't get to grips with that, a simple way to do it is just the WAV editor in windows. Overlay about 3 or 4 different streams that have their volumes altered at different points, and you should get a good effect.

Thanks, I already have Audacity but was having trouble distorting without making it just a bunch of (annoying) noise. I'll look into your stream overlaying suggestion, hopefully that works out.
