Salazar quietly wandered over to Lafiel, catching her in the split second she was free.
"Countess" he said, and she turned, recognizing the voice.
"Kithe..." she whispered. "What are you doing here?!"
Salazar chuckled lightly for a second.
"Why, wishing you a Happy Birthday of course. Here, I have some presents for you."
He pulled two small boxes from within his suit jacket, just as Serena sidled up next to him.
"May I introduce my wife, Serena" he added. "Serena, the Countess Lafiel Tarrant."
"A pleasure" Serena murmured, curtsying.
Salazar passed the first box over, it had a hinged lid which Lafiel opened slowly.
"This is from my daughter, Siona, who thought it would be something you should have."
Inside the box rested a gold necklace. The links of gold were obviously of the highest quality, and near the front were crystal clear diamonds and stunningly dark red ruby's. The necklace was obviously worth several hundred million credits, if not more.
"It was made by a very gifted craftsman on Planet New London 700 years ago, it is very likely the most expensive piece of jewelry in Sirius. Treat it well."
Lafiel nodded slightly.
"And from myself and Serena, something less pretty perhaps, but slightly more practical."
He opened the second, smaller, box to reveal a ring. The orange stone nestled in it seemed to glow.
"This is a personal shield, one of 6 in existence. I thought you might need it in the coming days. As long as you are wearing this ring, it will automatically activate when gunfire or a knife comes into close proximity to you."
Lafiel touched it, and the ring glowed once.
"There. That ring is now encoded to your DNA signature. If anyone but you touches it it will instantly self destruct."
Salazar nodded again, smiling, and placed the two boxes in Lafiels hands.
"Have an excellent day Countess, if you'll excuse me..."
And with that, the two melted back into the crowd.
//I hope you don't mind me having your character say that Lafiel, if you don't like it just say and I'll edit it.
