Konnichiwa,
Daii Tanaka Masa, commander of this ship, reporting in.
Routine patrols of Tau space have been unusually quiet over the past few days. Little overtly illegal activity, though still the usual traders openly transporting goods to Bretonia despite the war - primarily unimportant goods, however.
On the end of the patrol route at Glasgow station sensors detected BAF presence. Knowing the speed with which Bretonia can summor reinforcements, my crew and I chose not to provoke the enemy at first; however, the enemy sent a heavy fighter patrol in search of us - clearly detecting us on long range sensors. With the support of a Destroyer freshly arrived on scene, I moved to engage the Bretonians further from our secure position at Glasgow (I wished not to risk our foothold should the Bretonians attack in numbers).
Within a few minutes a half dozen BAF ships had engaged us - including multiple destroyers and supporting ships. While we fought valiantly defeat was inevitable and my ship suffered critical damage in the battle. While the ship will be in the docks for repair for some time I will resume Tau patrols in my personal Chimaera immediately.
The Bretonians crowed victory despite their obvious failing as we still control the Tau-31 gate. While this story stains my honor and I am ashamed to have sundered the good name of our Emperor's Naval Forces, I will happily inform you all that the Bretonians have grown no smarter since our last great conflicts. While their response time has improved, they struggled to destroy my agile Kishiro gunship even with what seemed half their fleet! While we must never underestimate our enemy, I wonder how they seriously believe they can challenge our immortal Emperor.
