First, I regret I did not arrive in time to help defend Vespucci.
In response to this brutal attack, I have taken the liberty to perform some... "Creative questioning" on the Bounty Hunter pilots I've managed to capture after destroying their ships. Most had no relevant information, however one, some kind of low officer, provided some interesting information.
It took a while for him to crack, but eventually he became more talkative. According to him, the Bounty Hunters had discovered some kind of device that would not only make them appear allies to the Nomads, but also the ability to command certain parts of their fleet! So it appears the Bounty Hunters were not helping the Nomads, but the other way around!
Whether this is true or merely something he said to lessen his pain, I think is too early to say. Regardless, I ask of permission to continue investigating this trail of intelligence...
