Initial scans of the system showed a large number of concentrated forces in different areas of the Burgundy system. Nothing major, small strike groups that could be easily dismantled. After thirty minutes worth of combat, they had been dealt with. However, after the decimation of these group of separatists, a more serious group appeared. Three Council warships. The "CLN-Conquerant" and "Triumphe" were of superior class, accompanied by the " Bernard.Mounier", a medium class warship.
An exchange of words took place, but upon the moment the enemy decided to insult our king, guns flew. First to depart from the battlefield in a glorious barrage of weaponry was the enemy's medium class warship. It stood no chance against the force of our superior weaponry and loyalty to the king, Louis V, doubled by the presence of the RNS-Temeraire.
The battle ensued as primary weapons fire flew in blazes of glory across the vacuum, penetrating the hull of the enemy, and sadly, of our mighty warships. After the fall of the medium class warship, the Chant Du Cygne, suffered heavy damage from the combined fire of the hostile warships. Her crew, nor I, would ever let her go down without taking an enemy of the king with her. And so we did. In a blaze of hellfire, angelical chorus' and zealous, defiant screams towards the enemy, the Chant du Cygne fell. As she did, she took the hostile warship, the Triumphe with her.
The remaining crew of his majesty's flagship made for the escape pods and tried to reach Avallon station. So far, her crew has suffered 124 casualties of which 34 wounded and 90 deceased. Their blood was on the hands of the separatists. Blood that had to be repaid, which it was.
Soon, the Temeraire silenced the CLN-Conquerant in a blaze
of a fire fueled by fury, vengeance and loyal zeal. Soon, it was no more.
We took a pounding, indeed. The Chant du Cygne's remains are currently being brought into place on Nevers low-orbit for repairs and resupplies, she will fly again, but her pride will for ever be slightly damaged. Only slightly.
My personal appreciations go out to the crew of the Temeraire who acted under grave danger with excellence the enemy can only dream of. Ships and crews like that will win us this war.
A ceremony will be held for the fallen men and women of the Chant du Cygne at planet Nevers, Soldier's plaza, at the date of 1702. The crews of the Temeraire, the Normandie, and the chant du Cygne plus the families and friends of the fallen are more than welcome to pay their final respects to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to stop evil from spreading.
