Hello, Sirius! This is Miyo Shirane reporting from the field!
Yesterday, in the bustling New York system, the Liberty Rogues were once again crossing fire with the Liberty Navy. The Police were nowhere to be found and the rogue pirates had become so bold as to occupy each major settlement in the system before being chased off by the Liberty Navy dreadnaught Seattle. The situation escalated to open combat outside Fort Bush when the Seattle engaged a number of pirate ships with the assistance of a lone freelancer who was passing through.
After a fierce battle, the rogues pulled in their ace in the hole: the dreadnaught Maelstrom. After the Maelstrom became directly involved the situation ended with the abandonment of the Seattle by its crew. The ship itself was not destroyed and I later confirmed that the entire bridge crew had, luckily, escaped with their lives. The anonymous freelancer barely escaped with his life, despite hot pursuit, following the defeat of the Seattle. I was unable to confirm the ID on the freelancer in that mess but the Liberty Navy owes the pilot gratitude. They jumped into the fray without a second thought to aid the Navy when they were clearly outnumbered and outgunned.
In the aftermath of the battle, I was accosted by none other than Captain Evangeline McDowell of the dreadnaught Maelstrom. McDowell is a recent celebrity who has enjoyed a wealth of infamy, seemingly overnight. I was able to get an interview with her at much risk to my own well being. The Captain is a Bretonia born woman who spent most of her life as a Junker. It was on one of her many forays that she claims to have found the Maelstrom in utter ruins. After repairing the massive war machine, McDowell began a new life of terrorizing various systems. The Bridge is crewed entirely by would-be Golden Chrysanthemum members save for the Captain herself. A background check shows that they are fiercely loyal to McDowell for having kept them from becoming cardamine addicted GC thugs. Collectively the Bridge is made up entirely of female officers starting with Evangeline Eva McDowell herself, the first mate Misaka Mikoto, and officers Kana Fujiwara, Fumika Minami, and Sakura Kinomoto.
The Maelstrom and its crew are considered extremely dangerous, especially to small security patrols. Exercise extreme caution when patrolling the ships known whereabouts. As of yesterday, it was still located in the New York system.
