As many would know, Fort Leniex is a Lane Hacker affiliated base within a system owned by the Hellfire Legion - and is rather difficult to locate as it is not marked by a base marker in game, and is in fact, located several tens of thousands of kilometers from the plane (21k above the plane from the top left hand corner of G4 to be exact). Also, the base resides in a cloud which makes scanners ineffectual.
Given the difficult nature of the location of Fort Leniex, additional information is required to find said base - the same information which the Hellfire Legion and its associates continue to remove for the sake of "it's ours in the game, so it's ours on the wiki and we can do with both of them as we wish."
I submit to you that the wiki is an impartial repository of fact, prioritizing truth above the convenience of the subjects of the articles in question - that the wiki is the property of the Discovery Mod as a whole rather than the ones that the articles address.
Don't get me wrong... the deliberate deletion of true and useful information both critical and relevant to an article IS falsification and is a blight on the integrity of the wiki as a reference of all things Discovery Mod related.
The Hellfire Legion attempts to justify its efforts to repeatedly lie on the wiki by contending that since Fort Leniex is not part of "public knowledge," it is detrimental to the RP experience to have its location available. A) The Wiki is OORP - any knowledge gained in the wiki is given as an impartial and complete (or as complete as possible) guide for the discovery mod as a game.
B) The information that had been listed as "detrimental to RP" has been hidden under a spoiler tag.
C) Station specs including the presence of artificial gravity, docking capability, amenities, population size, commodity imports and exports, and station class are all listed for all to see - without any sort of protest on the side of the Hellfire Legion - though clearly, this is way more RP insight into the station than the mere location.
D) Weapons, commodities, and ships that can be purchased on station are listed in the relevant articles regarding each respective item.
Clearly, if the location of Fort Leniex is inappropriate for the wiki article on Fort Leniex, then none of the information on or regarding Fort Leniex is.
At first glance, the faction right to lie on any article regarding faction property in game is ludicrous - however if allowed, it sets a very dangerous precedent. If factions do indeed irrevocably own the wiki articles on subjects regarding their in-game holdings to manipulate and corrupt as they see fit, it invites much in the way of further acts of vandalism on the wiki - who's to say that certain ship builds are too "secret" to be documented on the wiki? Who's to say that a certain faction will remove potentially inconvenient information regarding other base locations and weapon statistics? The knowledge into the Nomads, the AI, the Phantoms, and other shadowy factions are obviously not matters of in game public knowledge - should those be removed as well? Hopefully not, as those pages are quite well written and enrich the game as a whole with a new depth of story.
As said before, the wiki is clearly not meant to be inRP (that would explain how one can get such extensive information on what can be bought or sold on even the most secret of stations) - and is meant to be a guide to the mod, not some bowdlerized, lobotomized version of a faction's tour brochure.
Oh, and in the case that lying prevails over the integrity of truth on the wiki...
The Location of Fort Leniex in the Vespucci system is 21 kilometers above the plane in the top left corner of G4.
For those that would use other keywords in the future to search for said location for said base...
