I've got the original game and I'm currently playing it on the default difficulty (I think it's normal difficulty). But the sp-campaign is rather predictable.

Well, I've played a lot of rts games. The "conquest/resource management"-type games I've played are in chronological order:

1. Dune II: Battle for Arrakis
   
2. Warcraft: Orcs & Humans
   
3. Warcraft: Tides of Darkness
   
4. M.A.X.:Mechanized Assault & Exploration
   
5. Command & Conquer
   
6. Command & Conquer: Red Alert
   
7. Star Craft
   
8. Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds
   
9. Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns
   

The thing is, they're pretty much all the same. I like them (Dune, Warcraft and Star Wars being the favourites) but there's nothing really revolutionary about any of the new games. If you've played one, you've played them all so to speak.

I can't say I know what "turtling" means, but by the sound of it I'd say it's something like what I described, building up your army until it's invincible and then overrunning the enemy?

I really fail to see the uniqueness of DoW. Although I have to say that I do LIKE the game, I'm just not impressed.
