[COMMENCEZ LE PLAYBACK] This is Bruce Montague, General d'Armee Navalle, Margrave of Burgundy, reporting on an engagement with Council forces. It is the 14th of March, 734 A.G.S.
This morning, I received word of a Council Battleship operating in Burgundy. As most of our warships were otherwise occupied, I brought the Temeraire out of drydock. The commander of a ship identifying itself as the Triumphe responded to my hails over system comm frequencies, and we began to discuss the various merits of the war and Gallic supremacy as a whole. While normally it is procedure to simply shoot the traitorous vermin, this captain possessed a rare air of intelligence about him. I sought to learn how he thought, how his mind works, so as to better understand Council's methods for waging war.
Our discussion carried on for almost an hour. Sadly, I was unable to silence the Maquis without risking exposing myself to not only the battleship and the Maquis but also Council's bomber patrols- but the commander of the Triumphe, Michal Loup, agreed to a fair combat above Planet Tonnerre. When we arrived, we traded words once more, and then proceeded to do battle like true warriors... though he was no match for me, despite getting under my vessel. Despite my victory, however, the Temeraire sustained substantial damage from his mortars and is currently in drydock. It should be repaired within a matter of hours.
I once again recommend that we commence training exercises for our battleship pilots- though this foe was green to his ship, he will learn and there may come a time when we are too evenly matched for comfort.
For King and Country!
Bruce Montague, General d'Armee Navalle, Margrave of Burgundy
