Izzy didnt say a word. Ellie looked at her best friend, the one who flew into hell beside her countless times. She actually started to laugh. She couldnt help it.
"Oh my god Iz, he actually stunned you speechless! Oh, that is a first!"
Ellie clutched her stomach, laughing hard. A couple people around them stared askance at them, but she didnt care. What she thought impossible was proved possible. She sighed as her laughter died away. She composed herslef, then wipped out her PDA.
"What are you doing?"
"Telling Jer the sad news about Chris...and the good news about him."
"Dont you dare."
"Oh, I dare! And no grappling like wild beasts here."
"If you tell him Chris stunned me speechles, I will-"
Ellie sprinted out, typing furiously.
Izzy held her head and sighed. Sometimes Lord, sometimes.
On Toledo, shortly before Nathanial Valentine had returned from his...incedent in Iota, Jeremy checked his PDA for the message.
Jeremy shook his head. The man was the hardest guy to read.
Then Jeremy read about Izzy. Laughter ricohet off the walls.
But it was short, and Jeremy felt the tug of sadness. The Chris he had known had no weaknesses. He was a good man, but something happened. He knew, somehow, something had happened.
Jeremy launched his Sekhmet, Talisman from Toledo to face the day.
Ellie returned to order another round from the waitress who was asking if Izzy wanted anything to eat. She accpeted it, and the waitress moved away.
Ellie sat down, a bog grin on her face.
