I wouldn't say its dead. Honestly... I have another version of the things here.
Greed.
Think about it people. Think about how this site is presented to new players.
Think about how commodities are done, think about those programs like freelancer
companion that give them the supposed best trade routes.
Xoria himself said many many times that just looking at the two way directions and
calculating the costs will never reveal you the best trade route.
Imo things look like this now:
you have Dublin that is as much as Anarchy as it is supposed to be. An everlasting struggle of pirates vs pirates vs pirates (kudos to sprolf for the molly - rest restricting of bases) vs BMM vs IMG vs Indie miners.
It's a hell hole. I mean seriously, if you ask me would I mine there, I'ld say "sure, with two escorts and a frikkin destroyer parked 15k away from me.
But people still mine there. Why?
It's the basic greed. Ore is mined out in 30 minutes, and if you make it trough that you have
about 60mil in your cargo hold of goods. Now you just have to carry it away and you got yourself
60mil! It's the players of discovery hardcourt. They are greedy and they want to run only highest paying routes.
All decent trade routes. More than decent. Actually pretty great routes. Military vehicles go trough Kusari as well. Big time. And please don't jump on me about plutonium and hfuel restrictions because that leaves a great profit to smugglers. What, forgot about them? Yeah, they make killer profit and they dont have to be slave / cardy haulers. OMG REALLY? YEA.
Rheinland and bretonia you can write yourself. Bottom line, there are awesome routes around the world.
But no.
"I need to haul plutonium from Okinawa to Omega 49, the FL companion says it's an awesome route. Why does KSP / KNF stop me and shoots at me? Why do outcasts screw with me in sig 19? Why do Corsairs pirate me in omega 41? Why do hessians stop me in omega 47?"
not really a cool route huh?
Bottom line is that people always want to go for highest profit. Some people proved it few days ago. It made me sad to how far does that go. It made me sad few months ago, but I don't want to mention those things now. Bottom line is that even though I have some disagreements, Xoria balanced Sirius good enough so you can develop Corporate trading, mining, smuggling and piracy well enough. It is up to us to help it develop.
If you really aren't happy with 30mil per hour then I don't know what the hell do you want.
30 million per hour means 210million in 7 days of logging in, trading for hour and talking smack with your friends. In a month, you are ready to sit in that god damn capital ship you wanted and dissapoint yourself.
Leave the greed at home, it's certainly not a center stone you want to build your freelancer experience around.
