Hello everyone. Not sure if this fall in the right forum area, I think it does, even though I talk abit about roleplay rules regarding the subject, most of it is destinated to game mechanics of reputation in discovery.

Today Im going to propose a new subject.
Reputation.
Not about your character roleplay reputation, nor your player reputation on the community.
I want to talk about your character reputation by the game mechanics point of view.

When we make a new character we start with fixed reputations towards all the different factions and through our actions within the game, we can change that reputation.

I read that there is a command that can reduce your reputation for the faction wich you have more reputation with, the /droprep command, and there is also a command that allows one to easily change faction, to get a reputation from one of the major factions.

I also read the wiki page, regarding the reputation topic here: http://www.discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.ph...Reputation and a topic regarding bribes here: http://www.discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php?title=Bribe

Basically, its generically described as: "taking a bribe from one faction will make it and its allies more favourably disposed towards you, and its enemies less favourably disposed towards you."

To me, my in-game character reputation is one of the most interesting aspects of my character development and I would like to understand better how can I shape it to my character liking.

Ive been playing Freelancer for a long time and I have a generic understanding of the game mechanics regarding reputation, but I have no idea what kind of changes were made regarding in-game reputation for Discovery.

I also read that if Im part of any faction, I have to have its Tag/IFF, prior to my nickname, and to conquer it, the faction in wich I have the most reputation with is the one that will earn me the Tag.

I also read that my character reputation should ressamble my faction reputation. As in, if Im an Outcast, with Outcast Tag, I should also strive to achieve negative reputation with Corsairs or Bounty Hunters as well all the Liberty lawfulls. Thats just an example.

Having to strictly follow that advice would possibly hurt my "character individuality".
Everyone wants to make a character unique in some aspects, like an Outcast that was raised on Malta, loves its people, but doesnt understand, or doesnt accept the war with the Corsairs. Im being very simplistic here, but one could right a book about it and rightfully so, such theme has already sold many many books.

Anyway, for my first question, I would like to make sure about this:

As long as I have my Tag/IFF faction, whatever other reputations I have in-game (the one regarding the game mechanics), the F8 screen (not my character roleplaying reputation with other player's characters) are of the sole discretion of my character individuality, right?

Because, if Im forced by the rules to match my in-game reputations INDENTICALLY to the one of any faction, despite my roleplaying efforts (my character story, background, morals, values, points of view, experiences, everything that makes him alive to me), there is no point playing. Just saying. It would be very dumb and I dont play RPGs with narrow minded individuals. Like a Bretonian who falls in love for a Kusari, the 99% of times it doesnt happen, I let for the NPCs, when I roleplay, I want the exception, I want to be different and special... I even think I read a love story regarding an Outcast and a Corsair before, I think it was someone in the Benitez family two years ago. Very Romeo and Julliet inspired, I must say.

Having surpassed that first question, I would like to go to the core of the topic:

1. According to the in-game mechanics of Discovery, is it possible for my character to end up friendly with
The Council, The Maquis, The Brigands, the Unione, the Gallic Police, the Gallic Royal Navy and the Gallic Corporations?

I know that if I attack the Council, I will lose reputation with the Council, but also with their allies too: Maquis, Corse and Brigands, but in the otherside, I will win reputation with Gallic Royal Navy and Gallic Royal Police.

what I would like to know, is how exactly, in wich values, do I gain or lose reputation by destroying one "Council" vessel. Or by doing one "Council" mission. Or taking one Council "bribe".

Everytime I take a bribe, the current faction whose bribe I took, goes to 0.6 green bar, but what about the indirect effects to the allies and enemies factions? Do I gain more than I lose?

Is it possible to get my reputation with all these factions to a high green? If so, how according to the game mechanics? Does anyone know where can I read the "reputation" data files to understand how each faction action affects each other?

In the vanilla, I remember that I could kill Xenos to get reputation with many factions and lose reputation with none. I also remember that I could do missions on Malta to get reputation with Outcasts, but that would destroy my reputation with their enemies, but from what I remember, the reputation I gained from doing missions or bribes OUTWEIGHTED the reputation I would indirectly lose from that faction enemies, to the point where I could manage to get green with Outcasts, then kill Outcasts to get the Bounty hunters and Corsairs reputation to non hostile enough to get offered Bribes from those stations, at wich point the Outcasts reputation would still be neutral, at wich point I would be able to go and get bribes from then and end up with Green reputation with all of these factions.

Is this still possible in Discovery?
And in the situation I provided earlier regarding the Gallic lawfulls vs Gallic unlawfulls/semi-lawfulls, can I eventually manage to get a good reputation with everybody by playing "killing them, doing missions, and taking bribes" ?

I just want to understand the game mechanics to be able to decide how to develop my character in the roleplay aspect. I want him to be neutral-friendly to everybody I can, except Terrorists, Xenos, Keepers, Phantoms, Nomads, Wild, Coalition and Artificial Inteligence.

Regarding the factions not mentioned above, for those I intend to achieve green reputation in-game by the game mechanics (missions, bribes, kills) and outside the game mechanics, by roleplaying with the players from those factions. I know that despite my in-game relations might be good with, lets say Outcasts, the players cant see it, or might not care, but thats when the relations with the players will be developed in roleplay (their characters individuality, as in, all Outcasts npcs greet me, but an Outcast player might still act suspicious, and so on).

And off course I will roleplay with the players from the mentioned factions, just saying that I do not intend to do so in a game mechanics' way for a good standing with them.

Thanks for reading. Any thoughts/advices/info/tips/suggestions ?
