Jasmine Keller dodged the weapons fire as she ran down the cold and wet New London streets. She cursed her own luck as she ran. Stupid f***ing bouncers had to notice her counting cards, it wasn't illegal, but apparently they didn't like young women trying to take them for a run, even though she now was...she found some irony in that. She rounded a corner and burst into a sprint to get to the alleyway before the bouncers made it to the street she was on. She leaned against the wall breathing deeply, waiting for

Jasmine was a small build girl with a clear mix if Kusari and Bretonian in her. The mix made her an outcast by each group because of the war, so no one gave her any sympathy. She was 19 now, and still fighting for her life each and every day. She stole what she could for food; she did what she could for money, baring selling herself. She grew up on the streets of New London shortly after her mother disappeared and her father...well...she never knew him. One day she hoped to meet him and shove her size 7 foot up his--

Weapons fire scared the wall next to her, showering her with brick dust.

"There you are ya little whore! Get her!" yelled the lead bouncer.

"Gotta catch me first, fat ass!" Jasmine yelled back and started running down the path again through the alley way.

"You little skank! No one calls me a fat ass! Kill her!"

Automatic weapons fire tore up the walls around me as a bullet hit her shoulder and one nicked her ankle. She went tumbling down and fell into the road opposite the alley way. The lead bouncer was bounding down it towards Jasmine, weapons extended. Just as she thought she was going to die for sure, a metal plated boot came down on her right and another on her left. Jasmine looked up and saw a person full in metal armor.

"Is there a problem here gentlemen?" said a woman’s voice through the speaker. Jasmine swore she could see her smile from behind the armor. She clearly saw the armor marking on the upper part of the suit read "Quinn". She simply stood there with her arms crossed, almost daring the men to make a move.

"Not yer problem, Conviction mutt. Mind your own business." he said bringing the small automatic weapon up and point it directly at the woman in the suit. "Get outta the way or you're going to die with the little slut."

"Wrong answer." she said. As the man slowly brought the weapon up, 'Quinn', opened up two small hidden compartments on her shoulders and fired two small missiles towards the men, each of them stuck in the walls next to them and did nothing but fizzle. The men laughed two short laughs before both exploded in a huge cloud of fire and dust, collapsing the bricks on them. The woman held her gut and started laughing at their expense. Slowly, she realized that Jasmine was still sitting there staring at her and she stopped. "I'm sorry; I just love killing punk asses. Hi, I'm Victoria Quinn, Captain in the Children of Conviction."

Jasmine had heard of the Children before, of course she'd never believed they were any more than myth, a group dedicated to the downfall and crushing of the Lawful forces of Sirius for their corruption and foul deeds. They worked for the pirates, something many of the lawful groups feared. Jasmine didn't even know what to say.

"Am I to expect that your last name is Keller then?" she said, allowing the armor plated helmet to slide back into the collar. Her savior was a woman that looked in her mid to late thirties. Her hair was jet black like her own, and her eyes were a dazzling blue. "I take that as a yes then...do you speak dear or did you never get enough education?"

"I-I'm sorry I'm just kind of caught off guard...how did you know my last name?"

The woman smiled.

"Because I'm here on the request of your father."

You fear oblivion. Yet you forget. The universe remembers every atom of your being. Even dust hums your name in the dark.
