That rat f***.

My father, "Jacob Keller", I even had his last f***ing name. I thought my mother was smart enough not to take his name. Made me sick. I stormed down the hallway, fists clenched in my palms, blood dripping to the deck as my nails dug into my hands.

I walked towards the chow hall and entered through the double doors I made a bee line for the window to order food. I waited for an entire two minutes for the cook, oh, and I counted. I finally snapped.

"Hey! F***nut! How about you wait on me and quick playing with yourself back there?" I screamed.

"Listen here you little bit-"

"You going to talk to the daughter of your commander like that you sorry sack of s***? HUH?"

"Wha-no-I mean--"

"What. No. I mean." I said mocking him. "Get me a f***ing sandwich before I turn your insides to slag you waste of space."

"Y-yes ma'am. So sorry for talking down to you like that, I don't know what came over me."

I stood there clenching my teeth shut and snarled at him.

"What the f*** is taking you so god damned long!!! It's not that hard to make a sandwich you rat f***!!! HURRY UP!!!"

He was shaking by the time he got the sandwich to me. It looks perfect and then I looked to him and smiled, in my best voice I said. "Thank you, sir. It looks wonderful."

I turned around and took a bite out of it.

"M-ma'am?" he said, I turned around slowly and stared at him.

"Fut?(What.)" I said with a mouthful. I swallowed the piece and stared at him. "Put it on Petrov's tab you numb skull. You really expect me to pay for this when my father runs the place?"

"N-no ma'am. Sorry. I-I'll go b-back to cooking."

I narrowed my eyes and said "You do that, s***bag."

I ate the sandwich and started to walk around the base. He couldn't have possibly expected me to stay in one place, did he? Hah, goes to show that maybe my father didn't hire the smartest of people to be under him. Barrier Gate was bigger than I'd thought it would be. From what Victoria had said, it was pretty small, but it looked pretty large to me. That's when I ran into someone as I was walking around.

"Watch where you're going moron!" I said and stopped looking at his name tape on the armor.

"Commander Keller."

I thought I was going to die. He was a lot taller than I expected him to be. He looked down me in the armor and clenched his fists. I could see his neck muscles tightening as if he was going to whop me in the head, but...

...he started roaring with laughter.

"I expected no less of my daughter!" he said between bellowing laughs. Then without warning. "PETROV! GET THE F*** DOWN HERE! MY DAUGHTER IS WALKING AROUND THIS BASE BY HERSELF?! I SHOULD THROW YOU INTO THE AIRLOCK AND FORGET YOUR SUIT! YOU HAVE TO THE COUNT OF 10!!!"

My father crossed his arms and tapped his foot, by the time he got to 6, Petrov was standing there.

"Petrov...what did I tell you about letting new people wonder around my facility unattended? I believe I told you several times before about it, did I not?" Patrov went to answer and my father kept on. "Now, you're my second, I expect you to listen to your commander more often than you do. On more than several occasions you've done exactly what I've said not to. Am I correct?" he didn't even pause for an answer. "So, you're going to get her spun up on some combat training, you're going to get her spun up on armor usage. You're going to get her spun up on weapons training. Then, when you're done with that, you're going to go and find my son...once they enter training for the Children..." My father leaned in really close to Petrov. "We're going to have a chat." He looked to me and brushed my hair out of my face with his metal armored glove. "You look exactly like your mother..." then he laughed. "...and you've got her temper and mine too. Lord help us."

With that he turned and walked away. A mechanic was running down the hall, skinny kid, holding some engine parts, Keller reached out as he ran by and knocked all the s*** out of his hands, causing the kid to fall down on the floor, dropping everything. My father roared with laughter again.

I liked my dad.

You fear oblivion. Yet you forget. The universe remembers every atom of your being. Even dust hums your name in the dark.
