Wasn't there reference to Nanites and chemical weapons as well? Huh?

Anyways, the WMDs of Discovery are Nanites, Chemical weapons, Nukes, Antimattter and Karlotta.

Note: "Practical."
The efficacy of a weapon is not only measured in its destructive potential, but in its ease to be produced, delivered, and used safely... see "Colony Drop" for an example of all of these. Nukes are generally small, pack quite more than the needed punch for all but planets, and would be quite cheap to produce. (Note: All nuclear weapons by this time would be at least thermonuclear weapons, if not something past that... look up their destructive potential vs. a simple nuke and you'll see what I'm talking about.)
