Note: This transmission contains data from multiple vessels. As such, gun camera settings may differ. Data from different sources is marked as so.
After doing my final checks of my Liberator, I departed from West Point Military Academy and immediately linked up with agent Eridan Landal. He informed me that his ship had less than 15 minutes of fuel left, so I decided to patrol the first leg of Texas with Landal, and stopping at Houston to allow him to refuel and rest. The run from West Point to Houston was fairly quiet, and agent Landal was relieved of his patrol slot with enough fuel to make a safe landing.
After setting course back for the New York system, I picked up a partial, garbled, system-wide transmission apparently regarding a trade vessel being stopped. Through the static, I managed to pick up 'Stop....(unintelligible)....your....(unintelligible)....scrap metal for scanning.....'. Based on the strength of this transmission, I plotted its origin to be approximately 40 kilometers from the New York Jump Gate. I redirected to this trade lane, and found a Falcata-class Outcast bomber, designation 'UFO' telling a trade vessel to go on. After the pirate was finished with the trader, he turned his attention to me. A transcript of the conversation follows. Communications
The pirate attempted, rather foolishly, to tax me. Obviously refusing, the ship emitted a strange sound, then began charging weapons. I immediately engaged. Engaging - UFO
The heavy, slow bomber-class vessel had a very difficult time hitting my agile fighter with anything other than mines. I decided to stay on the defensive until the pilot's mine supply ran out. Eventually, he fired his last mine and I began attacking. The ship was rendered unflyable within 5 minutes. During this engagement, I routed all power to shields and weapons, which accidentally switched my heavy gun camera off.
After my victory, I contacted Johny Leroy, and began making my way to West Point to meet with him. Supervisor Mike Edwards also was making his way to us.
After Leroy, Edwards and myself met, Leroy set course for the Omicron Delta system, telling us that we were heading on a reconnaissance mission. After an uneventful flight through Alaska and Omicron Minor, we arrived in Omicron Delta. There I began constantly running my gun camera. The first thing I noticed about the system was the strange 'tunnel' the system appeared to be in. Omicron Delta Tunnel
From Omicron Delta, we proceeded to Omicron Iota. After a brief conversation regarding our procedures within the system, we entered. Following is another shot of the jump hole to this mysterious system, also demonstrating the 'tunnel', which I assume to be a simple optical illusion. Omicron Iota Jump Hole
After jumping, my scanner immediately showed a massive signature little more than a kilometer from my location, and my shields began showing effective fire. I managed to take one good photograph of the signature before going evasive. Omicron Iota - Weapon Platform?
After assembling in formation, the three of us proceeded on heading 167, torwards a large nebula. Behind us, a large planet was clearly visible. Omicron Iota - Planet
This nebula was unlike anything I, or any of the group, had ever seen. Rather than dust, the nebula's composition seemed more consistent with energy buildup. There were also asteroids that seemed to be composed of fairly normal rock. Nebula - Composition Nebula - Rocks
Mid flight into the nebula, we intercepted a system-wide transmission from a ship which had blinked on our scanners in Omicron Delta. Following is a shot from Edwards' older, lower resolution gun camera showing the name and transmission of the vessel. Omicron Iota - Unknown Vessel Transmission (Edwards)
Deeper inside the field, we encountered smaller rocks, which at first seemed to be made of water or a hydrocarbon-like material, but when hit by weapon fire, exploded in a remarkably similar fashion to those in the Badlands in New York. Rocks - Hit by Gunfire
Well within the field, we discovered several strange, very large objects. They were not consistent with weapon platforms, jump gates, or any other known Nomad installations. They also flashed a strange, triangular pattern, visible from very far away. These objects seem consistent with the trade lane-like objects found not long ago in the Kansas system by an earlier patrol into that system Unknown - Possible Trade Lane
Even further into the asteroid field, we discovered a sudden change of scenery. The rock field abruptly ended, and a massive field of strange objects began. Nobody had encountered these objects before. Nebula - Unknown Asteroids
After a large explosion was heard, it was extremely clear that these objects were mines. Based on their spacing, it is likely that this minefield is designed to stop large ships and not the nimble fighters we were flying. I also acquired a brief reading of what the scanner's wireframe showed as possibly being a planet. We decided not to investigate. Minefield - Unknown Large Object
We encountered a Zoner Fearless-class Destroyer flying torwards us at a high rate of speed, which confirmed the suspicions that the circular objects were, in fact, trade lanes. The vessel was carrying Nomad brains, and as a result, there is a very high probability that this vessel has been infested by Nomads. The ship was also carrying Order weaponry, and was asking us questions about why we were here, answered with a predictable 'Classified'. This vessel caused us to leave before our investigation was complete, and possibly compromised the security of our intelligence operation.
