Folks, you're missing a large concept of ghosts by introducing any kind of dogfighting into your proposal.
Ghosts do not have enemy/hostile lists. They don't fire at all and even if they did fire, they would do no damage. They're called ghosts for a reason.
They're incorporeal beings. They're there, but they're not there. Not really.
Another concept regarding ghosts is that they are largely guided by unfullfilled tasks. Anything in their past life that was left incompleted before their death is typically carried on into their phantom forms. Here are a few ghost ideas:
1) A happy-go-lucky salesman who travels around a system trying to sell vacume cleaners (represented by Slaves in the cargo bay).
2) A little girl who is running away from her father, also a ghost. The father used to rape her in her past life and continues to chase her in death.
3) A young trader who died because he told a pirate, "So what if you kill me! I'll just respawn!" and now has to carry 5,000 units of whatever cargo he had when he died, never able to sell it.
Try to think of creative ideas and throw any thoughts of gunfire out the window.
