I'm not sure if there were news updates regarding the LD-14/Westfallen stuff but that would be the type of stuff that generates a news/event update. Stuff like a group of LN players killing a group of RM players won't be.

I'm not sure which you're wanting, but there haven't been many events that would spawn a updated news report. It would be interesting to toy with the idea of random news stories that aren't tied to the overall story arc. Stuff like you'd see on the local or national news or something. I'm sure it would be possible, but I'm not really sure it is worth it.
