My bud, Doom suggested a cool commodity once

House ambassadors/emmisaries/diplomats: Each (of the four) would take up 2500 cargo space and bring MASSIVE profit. The huge cargo space requirements would mean only 1 per ship

And a few (less reasonable) things from me:

1: Wood - luxury construction material, sold on lush jungle planes and in high demand on house capitals.

2: Alien animals- bigger versions of the alien organisms. Sold as pets, zoo exhibits or food. Different species on different planets. Price dependant on how "wild" he planet is.

Heh, someone suggested the miliary goodies already...

Anywho, making the image is one thing and adding a commodity to the game is another.
