We've all seen how many new commers sometimes don't know how to properly RP, even some peopel who've been here for a while. But I think I have an idea as to why we are not seeing an increase in RP skills from alot of people, even the rise in OoRP talk.
simply put
/l
All the good, professional RP is hidden by this now. None of these new commers are really exposed to discovery's best RP anymore...even in a system with 15 people in it, the only people talking over the system wide comms are either people who do not know about /l.... people looking to make trouble...or people trying to RP with someone far away.
Most of the time though, good pirate RP is hidden...they don't want to be caught. Lawfuls also use this to RP in system, while keeping their comms away from pirates. Even small talk is kept hidden from the public...understandable. But the problem is, we can't really set a good example to people by hiding all the RP. Now I understand that not everything should be public...but really. How often do you use only the insystem chat...not reverting to the /l ?
Let's try something.
Let's use /l just a bit less and see what happens.
Just an idea....my theory may be wrong, but worth atleast putting out there
