yeah Link.
precisely well said...
hell this thing is so true that I have to think about it.
I would say: kewl lets rather hate each other than beenig Darthvader And Lukeloller at the same time but I guess balance needs this multi thingie....even if it destroys secrecy and RP in several cases.
But still: suprhuge battleships and special police rockets are not needed to charm people: but helpful players in the factions are. So try to help the newcomers instead of offering them a superbattlestardestroyer if they stay with us for 5+ years.
Edit: just to say something constructive:
personnal faction ships? what about this instead:
No unoffical player should have buy bigger ship than GB from a faction pile. From adding a ship form the bigger type the special faction would be able to remove a smaller one from the pile.
Example: noone but offical Rouges/Mollys will be able to buy those ships: If they add their gunboat to the pile of purchasable ships for indie factionmembers or Unoffical factions they can remove f.e. the Barghest. So than the unoffical/indie mollys and rogues should not use the Barghest but they can purchase gunboats.
Like every unoffical or indie will be look like xenos than and if they want bigger ships like a GB or a BS, they should join a faction. OFC this means more restrictions but it would end in somthing like everyone will try to join factions instead of buying Battleships than go blowing up traders, then receive a sanction and with that loosing significant time (the bs guy loose time, the trader loose time the admin loose time and the community members who read the sanction craps are loosin time aswell->noone wins a single thing unless admins LOVE to sanction but I doubt that)
Less job for admins=better game experience
OFC this thing will need serious factions and player friendly policies ( a rule of : ,,kill 666 battleships with your fighter than you can join us,, is NOT a correct request in exchange for applyin someone to a fac. but a page of background story and 10 minutes in space would show someones worthiness I guess)
